Hippy New Year
Hip, urbane and sexy music for your New Year’s Eve party. Five tunes to help you ring in the New Year right.
2raumwohnung – Du und ich

2raumwohnung (Inga Humpe & Thommi Eckart) live and create their music in Berlin-Mitte. They are truly part of Berlin's heartbeat with their songs written as a poet and musician, able to compose in such a way that they turn the atmosphere of a place and its people into music. “Du und ich” is one of those songs with a pulsing beat and that sexy German lilt of Inga which makes the listener feel hip and urbane.

Other 2raumwohnung Songs to Check Out: Sexy Girl, Nimm mich mitt, Spiel Mit, Sie Kann Fliegen
Briskeby – Miss You Like Crazy

Briskeby, who got their name after trudging through the snow every night to their rehearsal room in the quiet residential Oslo, Norway neighborhood of Briskeby (”A place where nothing ever happens, the neighborhood God forgot,” according to Bjørn), is anything but a band with nothing happening. Rather they are a high-voltage, rock extravaganza, a modernistic and unique, ice cold, ambience-imbued passion featuring the fascinating vocals of Lise Karlsnes, gaining fans from both indie purists and pop enthusiasts, conjuring images and influences from Phil Spector to Chris Stein to the visions and delusions of grandeur of arch-1980s pop via John Cale and Brian Eno.

Other Briskeby Songs to Check Out: Propaganda, Cellophane Eyes, Wide Awake, Joe Dallesandro (featuring Ken Stringfellow of The Posies)
Olive – Blood Red Tears

Okay, so Olive had a #1 hit in the UK with “You’re Not Alone” and even made it somewhere onto the top-40 in America, they’re still pretty obscure for most music fans, so we still think they qualify for this list of obscure but groovy music. “Blood Red Tears” is a sophisticated, jazzy drum ‘n’ bass tune the whole family can enjoy!

Other Olive Songs to Check Out: Outlaw, Curious, You’re Not Alone, I’m Not In Love, You Are Nothing, Push
In-Grid – Tu Es Fouto

Who ever thought the accordion could sound so cool? Apparently In-Grid did. Enjoy New Year’s with some brie, a baguette, wine and the French accordion. Although she sings in the French idiom (and sometimes English), In-Grid is in reality from Northern Italy and has the sexiest voice to come out of Italy in decades. Mais oui, you may have heard the English version of this already, but have you heard it in French!? And yes, she was named after Ingrid Bergman.

Other In-Grid Songs to Check Out: You Promised Me, Souvenir D'été, Inside Of Me, In Tango, I’m Folle De Toi
September – Satellites

Sweden’s first satellite, designed by SAAB, was launched in 1986. Sweden’s most recent heavenly object was launched this year with the advent of the pop group September. This group is currently somewhat obscure, (we can’t even find a website for them), but not for long. This song will hit the charts worldwide with its accessible, infectious Swedish pop.

Other September Songs to Check Out: September All Over, La La La, We Can Do It
