USA Dream Still Alive

But first Europe awaits Sissel

Av ESPEN A HANSEN translated from Norwegian by Robert A Jones

Sissel Kyrkjebø's manager, Arne Svare, has not ruled out a USA release, but at first only Europe and Asia are in the plans for the album "All Good Things."

USA RELEASE? Sissel Kyrkjebø had an opportunity for a USA release three or four years ago, but the chance disappeared, even as she spent many months in New York working on an album which never saw the light of day, but there are still plans to release in the USA. Photo: Anne Elisabeth Næss

In Arne Svare's plans there is also a release for Lene Marlin in the USA when her new album is finished.

Right now, Svare is on a 14 day's roundtrip through the USA and Canada, where he will talk to Feldman and Associates, among others, an entertainment agency which handles Sissel and Lene Marlin in North America.

Whether Svare, who worked towards an American release for several years, will speak to key people at Universal Music about "All Good Things" is uncertain.

"Least important"

"The USA is the least important now, said the adminstrative director, Petter Singsaas, of Universal Music Norway.

"Countries such as Germany and France are priorities. The strategy is to release Sissel in Europe and Asia at first," said Singsaas.

After Svare and Sissel decided to drop the album which was basically finished by American producer Rick Chertoff--and went instead with a Norwegian producer--there has been little talk about the USA.

Mainly because Sissel lost all the big supporters internationally when PolyGram Records was purchased and merged with Universal. In a very short time one after the other of the top leaders had quit. This means that Svare must lobby on Sissel's behalf all over again with the new people in Universal management.
